Daily Machine Release
In accordance with International requirements (EN ISO 17665-1) the Bowie-Dick test remains the benchmark for the daily testing of the mechanical function of your vacuum assisted steam sterilizer. This test includes challenging for effective air removal and steam penetration thereby releasing your sterilizer for its daily use.
Overblik
By verifying the critical process parameters, added assurance is provided that the equipment is sterilizing as expected. Overview
Daily monitoring of Turbo steam sterilizers
The Getinge Assured Bowie-Dick Test Pack 134°C is for daily monitoring of Turbo steam sterilizers operating at 134°C. The test pack is packaged in an easy to open box and designed to operate in sterilizers with cycles as defined in EN ISO 11140-4.
If no appreciable air is present in the sterilizer chamber after vacuums are drawn, the steam will penetrate to the middle of the test pack and turn the indicator sheet a uniform black color, which indicates a pass. If a small amount of air is present, sufficient enough to cause a two degree temperature drop, the air will migrate to the middle of the test pack causing the center of the sheet to remain a blue/grey color rather than a uniform black. This indicates a fail.

Table-top Sterilizers
Overview
Daily monitoring and detection of residual air
The Getinge Assured Bowie-Dick Test Card TT (table-top) is specially packaged for daily monitoring and detection of residual air in small pre-vacuum steam sterilizers operating at 134°C. Residual air can inhibit pre-vacuum steam sterilization. The special pouch packaging prevents the indicator card from being exposed to excessively wet steam conditions that are sometimes present in small steam sterilizers.
The metal ring provided with each bag of indicator cards is attached through a hole punched in each pouch. The ring provides weight/stabilization to the pouch and indicator, which prevents it from being moved around inside the sterilizer chamber.
